New Year Traditions – Reading & Books

Hello…my name is Dalia…and I am a bookaholic!

I LOVE to read!  Reading has been my passion since I learned to speak English from waaaay back when I was around 9 years old.  At the time I didn’t have friends (couldn’t talk to anyone obviously) and would often keep to myself.  I remember being in summer school for English and they would make us have reading time and I remember the exact book that got me interested in books…Amelia Bedelia 🙂  Since then I have been a lover of books and have amassed a great collection of books…more than I probably have space for.

My first series to read and what really got me to love reading even more was the Harry Potter series.  At the time it was just coming out and I remember eagerly awaiting the next book and checking to see when it will be in stores.  My friend and I would sit in her room and talk about them and discuss them for hours and hours – making our own theories to the story and what we think will happen next and so on.  Since then, my beginning of the year tradition has been to reread all 7 of the Harry Potter books beginning on Jan. 1 no matter what book I may be currently reading.  It’s so funny too how with each reading I still discover something new and notice things in the first books that foreshadowed what was to come in the later books.

I am currently doing the Goodreads 2016 Book Challenge and I have challenged myself of reading 50 books this year (7 of them will be HP 😛 ).  Find me on there at https://www.goodreads.com/friend/i?i=LTM1NTkxNTMyODc6NDI3 to see what books I’m reading and enjoying, and perhaps share them here if you guys are interested.

So what books are on your reading list for this year?  Do you have a favorite that you reread once a year?  Do you have any other fun yearly traditions that you have started (or have been doing)?  I’d love to hear from you 🙂

P.S. For those of you who don’t know, Alan Rickman (aka Prof. Snape) has passed away yesterday.  RIP Alan!  The world of cinema has lost a great, wonderful, and talented actor.
